Frequently Asked Questions:

At CPR Thunder Bay, we provide Canadian Red Cross training courses including the Online Blended format of First Aid and CPR/AED. This course format is WSIB approved and will provide students with a Canadian Red Cross certificate which is valid for three years.

In FIrst Aid Thunder Bay, the Online Blended course format is divided into two sections: Online and In-Class. To begin, students will be required to complete an online portion of their training which contains the theory of First Aid and CPR/AED. This must be completed prior to the in-class date, and can be worked on over multiple days. Once that is complete, students will attend an in-class session and learn hands-on skills with an experienced Canadian Red Cross instructor. Here, you will practice CPR, how to use an AED, bandaging and more.

The Online Blended format is a highly requested course as it does not require students to spend as much time in the classroom, perfect for those who are busy with work, family, etc.

As of April 2019, CPR-HCP was updated to Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP). The Basic Life Support training course is an improved format of HCP training, providing additional information and in-depth material for students in healthcare professions.

Within Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training, students will learn a wide range of skills including high-performance CPR, opioid overdose, trauma and more. Not only will it teach life-saving skills, it will also teach students how to work as a team in a fast-paced environment, such as a hospital.

After completing this four-hour course, students will earn a WSIB approved certificate which is valid for one year. To keep this certificate valid, you must complete a recertification/renewal course every year.

In Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay First Aid Training Center offers this course in morning and evening sessions. We understand that those who work in healthcare fields have busy schedules, so we provide training often. Complete your Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training with our experienced Canadian Red Cross instructors today!

After three years, First Aid and CPR/AED certificates from the Canadian Red Cross expire. Before your certificate expires, it is important to register and complete a Recertification course. In order to be eligible for a First Aid and CPR/AED Recertification course with Bay First Aid Training Center, you must have a valid (not expired) certificate from the Canadian Red Cross.
Eligibility criteria are a little different for CPR/AED Level C versus Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. To complete a Recertification for CPR/AED Level C, your current certificate can be from a full training course or a Recertification course. Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Recertification requires students to have a current certificate from a full training course only.
At Thunder Bay CPR, you cannot recertify a CPR/AED Level A certificate or an Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certificate. If you wish to renew either of these courses, you will need to register for a full training again.

At Thunder Bay First Aid & CPR Center, we provide a couple different levels of CPR/AED training courses. Each of these courses cover different material and run for different durations of time. It is important to register and complete the correct course based on your needs.

CPR/AED Level A teaches students how to provide CPR, use an AED and assist a victim of choking for adults only. This training takes roughly four hours to complete and will provide the student with a Canadian Red Cross certificate which is valid for three years. CPR/AED Level A training is ideal for those who strictly work with adults such as personal trainers, some office positions, etc.

CPR/AED Level C includes all of the training in CPR/AED Level A, but also teaches students how to provide these skills for children and infants. The techniques used are different based on the age of the victim. It is important to understand these techniques and skills. CPR/AED Level C training is great for those who work with people of all ages. Earn a WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross certificate, valid for three years.

There are a couple levels of Canadian Red Cross First Aid training courses provided by Bay First Aid. In Thunder Bay, we provide Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C as well as Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. Each of these courses will provide students with a WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross certificate which is valid for three years.

Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C will include all course material of CPR/AED Level C as well as wound care. This is a typical training course for those who work in positions such as a personal support worker, office employees and more. The Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C course is our basic first aid training course and covers fewer first aid topics.

Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C teaches all of the material in Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, but also includes important topics such as bone, joint and muscle injuries, environmental illness, poisons and more. This is a more advanced first aid training course and is required by daycare workers, nurses and more.

Private/group First Aid and CPR/AED training is a great way to certify multiple people at once. If you are an employer or school program coordinator, we encourage you to inquire about a private training course.

With private training, you must have a group of eight or more participants you are looking to certify for the same course. You will receive amazing benefits such as discounted pricing, choice of training facility, date and more. Once we receive your information, we will send one of our highly trained Canadian Red Cross instructors to your location with all necessary equipment.

Your group can learn amazing life-saving skills together, understanding the importance of First Aid and CPR/AED in the workplace/school. Since it is mandatory in Ontario to have First Aid and CPR/AED trained employees, private training is perfect for you!

It is our goal to provide top-notch training to all participants, which is why we follow Canadian Red Cross guidelines and teach with high-quality training equipment.
